Coolness, the word can hold many meanings. Cool weather … isn’t nice to finally have it here? I think I’m (sometimes) cool…until my 15 year old quickly informs me that I am not. Cool clothing can mean one of two things…very cute clothing, like the lovelies here at Smitten and cool clothing … as in we look and feel cool (hip). Well for today let’s talk about the cool weather and how cool the clothing is at Smitten. We are excited by all the new lines we have been able to introduce to you. The store is filled to the brim and getting ready for the you know what…(holidays)

Let me be the first to wish you a Happy Fall! Tomorrow (September 22) is the first day of my favorite season! (I think I say that before every season) Fall is one of the best…the clothing is by far my favorite! This season is spectacular. If you have not been to see us recently, you might want to plan a visit soon. The colors this fall are rich and elegant, combined with sumptuous fabrics…it’s a great season for everyone!

I never cease to be amazed by the wonderful and supportive customers we have. Our Pandora event was the largest 3 day event in the history of Smitten. A big thank you goes to my amazing staff and you, our customers. Thank you!
Another big thank you to Chapel Hill Magazine for the wonderful write up about our lovely shop (even though we’re in Durham!!) If you have not seen either Durham Magazine or its sister Chapel Hill Magazine…you are missing it! Both publications are filled with great articles about local people and businesses! Check them out and the words of fashion wisdom from yours truly in this month’s C Hill mag!

My oldest moped around the house all weekend … “summer’s over” was all I heard. I reminded him that he loves fall and the cool temperatures that come with that season. I received sighs and looks of disdain , and a response that made me feel like the retailer I have always been…”Mom you like fall because that means Christmas is right around the corner!” Guess what…he might have something there!!!
I know…it’s very hard for me to believe as well. Next month we’ll be open a year at Smitten, and the holiday season is RIGHT around the corner. Yes 108 days from now …it will be Christmas. Just so you know…I’m not ready…but we are getting ready at Smitten (no we don’t have ANY decorations up) but we are stocking our shelves with great gift items for friends and family. Don’t get caught frantically shopping at the end of the season (like I usually do) Pace yourself and when the holidays actually do get here…you might be able to enjoy them. (that’s my plan for now anyway!)
Whether you are holiday shopping or not…we hope you plan to visit us soon. Don’t forget our Wine, Cheese and Retail Therapy every Friday 4pm to 7pm. (Sometimes, holiday shopping is easier with wine!)
