Well, it’s that time of the year again. Yes I am having a birthday this Wednesday June 24 … it’s an all day event. : ) I never cared much about turning a year older, then around about 40 … it started to matter. I felt as though life was passing me by at such a warp speed I couldn’t possibly get all the things accomplished I had on my life to-do list. About a year ago, birthdays stopped bothering me again (that may be due to the fact I can’t remember how old I am half the time!) I’m quite pleased with many of my life’s accomplishments. I have two beautiful children, a wonderful mother and sister, and countless friends, all of whom have been there for me at any given moment when I needed them most. I have an amazing career… who wouldn’t want to come to work at Smitten everyday? Yes, life is pretty good. I’m just glad I lived long enough to realize that with each passing year I gain a year of wisdom. Wisdom that has granted me the ability to not care about what my number is.
Join us Wednesday for a birthday celebration…(I’ve heard a rumor they’re planning to serve champagne through out the day!)

I have a new friend, who actually started out as a new customer. In the last week, this new friend has sent us 4 new and lovely customers. I have a lot of customers and I have a lot of friends and sometimes they are both. Not much makes me happier than a new customer who shares Smitten with her good friends. It validates what we’re doing as a business, and how we conduct ourselves as people and friends. Thank you to all of our customers. If you’ve shared us with a friend, thanks for that too. Our business depends on the good word you spread about us.
We may “in between” seasons right now, but we do have a great sale going on and are filled to the brim with new Pandora, and great accessories for summer.

I may be dating myself, but when I was in school Alice Cooper had a song out titled School’s out for Summer (at least i think that’s what the title was) that was the only line I could and still can remember of that song. I liked to play it really loud and sing it even louder. I still love that song, however now it holds new meaning to me now. Yes school is out…and I don’t have to wake up at the crack of dawn and pack lunches, nag about eating breakfast, monitor homework, and jockey my way around the dreaded car pool line at school! Yes, I still love summer only for different reasons now.
Congratulations to all the graduates. Your future looks bright, treasure every moment. For you Moms (and Dads) pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Your work is not done…just a good portion of it!

Staying in theme with our beautiful store, I thought I would write with a “beach theme” for my weekly blog. I grew up in the northeast (Yep I’m a Jersey girl)…we never called it the beach…it was always “THE SHORE”. It didn’t matter what area of the Jersey coast you were visiting, it was all referred to as the shore. I have a lot of very fond memories of my summers at the shore. For those of my oldie goldie friends reading this, I’m certain I provided you all with some very fond memories as well!! Whatever you call it , the beach, shore, or coast, it is definitely a mindset that most of take on at one time or another during the summer months. It’s as though our minds and our bodies have just had enough of our daily rat races and screams for us to take a break!!!! Give in to it…be a kid again. Dig your toes down into the sand, ride the waves or fall asleep on the beach while reading a good book (just make certain you have sunscreen on!)
We’re ready for the beach ,shore and SUMMER at Smitten. We’ve begun our Summer Sale … because believe it or not…we’re thinking ahead to Fall already. Stop by this Friday at our special Wine, Cheese and PANDORA event from 3pm to 7pm. It’s a great way to end your week, begin your weekend …or your trip to the beach.
